CRC – How does it work?
The CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme is a mandatory carbon trading scheme in the UK for large, non-energy intensive organisations.
It applies to organisations with half-hourly metered electricity consumption greater than 6,000 MWh per year (circa £500K).
At the start of each year, organisations affected are required to purchase allowances of carbon which they expect to emit over the following year.
At the end of each year, organisations will be placed in a CRC league table. Those with poor environmental performance are penalised, whilst those with good performance are rewarded.
The Energyscope Consultancy Service can help carry out the work required for CRC compliance and Energy Audit.
Energyscope can assess the potential impact of CRC on your business. We can support you with the development of your CRC strategy and help you build a tailored action plan.
